Kyoto

Here's the entrance to our inn as we saw it this evening. It's very traditional in architectural style and in the sense that I am writing this post sitting on tatami mats wearing a kimono in a small room with little opaque screens surrounding me.

The whole inn is set in a lush park (as if we were staying in the middle of Central Park), and it'll be pretty awesome to wake up here tomorrow and see it in the daylight.

My only first impression (other than the forests here are really beautiful) is that it is incredibly weird to be in a city where you have literally NO idea what any of the words/symbols mean. We all had various bento boxes for dinner, but we had no earthly idea what we were eating. I think I had shrimp.
