No-no-no-noTORII-ous

The number one thing you need to know about day 3 of our Japan trip is that we probably walked 10 miles. And 5 of them were uphill. There is a place called Fushimi-Inari that is a processional up a mountain where you pass under 10,000 toriis (the orange gates). This is the very first gate when you arrive at Fushimi-Inari from the train.

From there, you walk through the forest and the torii up the hill. Toriis are for protection from all sorts of things, and these toriis are donated by families. Love the orange. Love it. Shinto orange is my new color.

So this was the view from the (sort of) top of the mountain looking back on Kyoto. Beautiful.
