The Golden and Silver Pavilions

Today commences Sean and Lindsay blogging together... So this is a series of joint thoughts by us.

The Golden Pavilion:

First things first, our professor, John, thinks it's tacky. We thought it was shiny and a little fun. Maybe the Vegas attraction of Japan. Sean thinks it had a nice gutter detail. It was more than a gutter; it was a water feature. Nonetheless, there were approximately 80689034793042093472093472039420374930 people there, so it was a little crowded. Basically, if you weren't there, you weren't a person on Earth. And you couldn't even go inside. You just looked at it. Voila: the Golden Pavilion.

And this was the Silver Pavilion: the understated foil to the Golden Pavilion. It was elegant, simple, and again, not possible to enter. It's called the Silver Pavilion because under the moonlight, it glows silver. Were we underwhelmed? No. But it wasn't the Las Vegas of Japan like the Golden Pavilion. Sean liked the Silver Pavilion more experientially. It had a more beautiful garden. But people stared at us while were drawing.
